Volunteer Opportunities

A mesage from Terry Kendal our group Chair.

We the Barnsley and District Branch of Parkinsons Uk is on the hunt for Volunteers.
We operate out of the Emmanuel Methodist Church on Huddersfield Road, Barnsley and support people with Parkinsons and their families.
We are now on the lookout for people who can help us throughout the year.

We Need Your Help!

George our assistant treasurer who is a founder member of the group and does much much more than that, retires from the branch at the end of the year, as does Kathy our treasurer. I shall be retiring from the branch at the end of 2026. To keep our activities running, we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with daily tasks and future events.

I cannot stress too highly, that if we don’t get people to step up and assist us in the day to day running of the branch, we shall have to radically reduce our programme of activities.

What We’re Looking For

• Friendly and reliable individuals

• Good communication skills

• Willingness to work as part of a team

• No previous experience necessary – just a positive attitude!

How You Can Help

• Assisting at events and meetings

• Joining the rota for the administration of the exercise class

• Finding speakers for our branch meetings

• Posting our weekly programme on Facebook

• Assisting in setting up payments on our on-line banking system

• Welcoming visitors and members to branch meetings

• Producing a quarterly newsletter

• Staffing our awareness stands in the town centre, community halls and supermarkets

• Fund raising
